How Is Eligibility Determined?
A family qualifies only if both of these are true. First, the child must have been born between 2016 and 2024. Second, the family’s ZIP code must have a median family income (MFI) of $150,000 or less, based on the most recent U.S. Census Bureau data (2020–2024 ACS 5-Year Estimates).
Online searches often show “household income,” not “family income,” and these are different numbers. Because this program is built for families raising children, family income is the measure that best applies. It reflects what families actually earn, instead of a broader number that includes people who aren’t raising children.
To check the exact MFI for a ZIP code, visit the Census Reporter median family income table, type in the ZIP code, and select it from the list.
